Bags, Tags, and a Card
Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 9:00AM Hello and thank you for joining us for the Scrap-Mart Holiday Blog Hop. Scrap-Mart has teamed up with these fabulous manufacturers to bring you a week long blog hop dedicated to Christmas-themed projects!
Heartfelt Creations (Dec. 7th)
Each of the generous manufacturers will have prizes for you along the way so be sure visit and complete the hop each day from Dec. 5th through Dec. 10th to be eligible to win.
The DT received such generous packages from Canvas Corp and October Afternoon. In addition, I was lucky enough to receive several new dies from Lifestyle Crafts/Quickutz and a fabulous snowman stamp set from Heartfelt Creation. Once I opened the boxes I knew right away that these products would work beautifully together.
I have yet to wrap any of my Christmas gifts so I decided to raid my stash of unadorned gift bags and started creating.

My first bag features the new wreath die from Quickutz. I cut it out of felt and mounted it on red American Craft cardstock that I die cut and embossed with one of the dies from the Spellbinders Creative Book Pages II. Here’s a close-up of the beautiful dies.

The bright and cheery Christmas patterned papers are part of the Canvas Corp collection as is the black twine which pulls in the black twill handles of the gift bag. The letter stickers are from October Afternoon.

For the next bag, I started by coloring this cute snowman from “Snowmen Melt Your Heart” by Heartfelt Creations with Copic markers. I chose the colors for his scarf from the beautiful snowflake patterned paper from October Afternoon’s Holiday Style collection. The little sentiment sticker is also from that collection as is the perfect pom-pom ribbon. I die cut the patterned paper with a Quickutz Nested Eyelet Circles die and tied it on with some ribbon from my stash, and a snowflake punch I coated with Smooch Illuminate.

The last bag is a bit more on the elegant side.

I was delighted to see that the canvas star by Canvas Corp was nearly the exact shape of the Nested Star dies by Quickutz (definitely a favorite of mine!) I die cut two stars from this beautiful holly paper, again from the October Afternoon Holiday Style collection. I edged both with a gold pen and layered them with the canvas star, a few stick pins, and a sentiment from October Afternoon.

Finally a card I posted on my blog Sunday to advertise this blog hop.

I love this reindeer die from Quickutz (there’s also a sleigh that comes with it). Once again, I cut it from felt and loved the way it looked on one of Canvas Corp’s Burlap Minis. Canvas Corp also has these wonderful card sets, and although it’s not a traditionally Christmas pattern, I really liked how the card came together. The green twill is from my stash, but the sentiment strip is another from the October Afternoon Holiday Style collection.
Now, I'm going to turn it over to our guest designer, Terre Fry...
Today I am sharing a creative holiday treat holder, this was created using the empty plastic Crystal Light container. I started by measuring and cutting my pattern paper from My Minds Eye and using a heavy craft adhesive I secured my pattern paper to the container. I stamped this adorable holiday stamp from The Rubber Cafe, Having A Ball using Scrap Happy Glue instead of ink. Set the stamped images aside for about 45 seconds then add You're So Fine Glitter, Big Apple Red using your finger, just rub the glitter over the stamped image. Using the S5-026 Labels Twenty die template from Spellbinders™, I die cut my stamped image using the Grand Calibur.I air brushed just a hint of blue around the outer edge of my stamped image to make the red glitter pop. Every holiday project needs a little bling so where do I go for bling? Want2Scrap™, they have Nestabling™ that matches Spellbinders™ die templates just like the Nestabling™ Pearl Labels Twenty shown here.I tied a red silk bow and poked two holes in the lid to make a hanger so that my treat holder can be hung on the Christmas tree. Thank you for stopping by my blog post today, Crafty Smiles, Terre.
Be sure to come back tomorrow for more inspiration from the blog hop participants!
